Four bars under one roof. Four lanes of bowling. Eight billiard tables. A full kitchen, workout rooms, tennis courts, handball courts, and bocce ball. The San Mateo Elks Lodge #1112 at 229 West 20th Avenue is not a quiet civic club, it is a full-scale recreational compound that most San Mateo residents have never stepped inside.

The Lodge has been part of this Peninsula community for generations, anchored by the kind of loyalty you only earn over decades. One member recently celebrated 53 years of membership at age 95, still showing up, still going strong. That is not a statistic you manufacture. That is what happens when a place genuinely delivers for the people who call it home.

Beyond the recreation, the banquet room hosts everything from intimate family luncheons to milestone celebrations, with space for 50 or more guests in a setting reviewers describe as bright, cozy, and genuinely welcoming. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has always stood for community, charity, and camaraderie, and Lodge #1112 carries that mission into every corner of its building.

What We Offer

Membership at Lodge #1112 opens the door to amenities that most private clubs charge far more to access. The four-lane bowling alley and eight-table billiard room give members a recreational anchor that rivals any dedicated sports bar. Add darts, tennis courts, handball courts, and bocce ball, and you have an activity for virtually every mood and season.

The banquet facilities are a standout for private events. Whether a family reunion luncheon or a milestone birthday celebration, the bright and well-appointed banquet room seats groups comfortably and comes with full kitchen support. Elks members also benefit from the Lodge's ongoing charitable programs, community scholarships, and veterans outreach, because membership here means contributing to something larger than a night out.

The four bars inside the Lodge offer members a relaxed, familiar atmosphere to unwind after a game or connect with neighbors after a long week. Pricing is member-friendly, the crowd is genuine, and the sense of belonging is the kind you build over years, not one visit.

"This was my first time at the Elks Club in San Mateo. I attended an afternoon luncheon with about 50 family members in their banquet room which was bright and cozy, and a very nice place for a party, wedding reception, etc. There is ample parking in the parking lot and on the street. The food served was delicious and the service was top notched."

"This place is a members only lodge. It’s amazing. It has 4 bars inside. 4 lanes of bowling, 8 large billiard tables, darts, tennis courts, handball courts, bocce ball, a huge kitchen, workout rooms, a beautiful swimming pool as well as a kiddie pool. Hot tub a sauna. Full bar outside by the pool called the Catina. So much more I can’t even begin to do it justice. The people are welcoming and fun. Lots of families are members. "My brother in law invited us there with his wife to celebrate St.Patrick's Day. We had a great time. Friendly people and the food was fantastic! So we're the drinks!!"

"One of the best kept secrets in San Mateo! If you join, it's like joining a cruise ship with all the events and activities, but with the benefit of an organization that also does good works in the community. They have a ton of amenities for members, along with a lot of activities... Like gym, tennis, pickleball, bowling, bocce ball, handball, swimming, card room, billiards, shuffleboard, darts, even different bars where the drinks are still affordable...I could go on, but I'll leave it there."
